Srikakulam: Aiming to intensify vigilance and strengthen the monitoring system to control crime in Srikakulam and other towns in the district, Superintendent of Police AS Khan called for installing Closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras in PPP mode in instituting the rule of law.

He said the cameras will help track movement of the traffic and register cases of traffic violations. “In hit-run cases, the cameras play a very critical role in nabbing the culprits,” said the SP, who has been spearheading the revamp of monitoring system.

He said that following the installation of cameras, the number of road accidents have reduced as the cameras have helped in better traffic management.

Addressing a review meeting with police personnel, traders and NGOs at district police office here on Monday, the SP said that good governance is all about seeing that the rule of law is in place and added that the installation of CCTV cameras will bring down crimes and will ensure detection and recovery.
