Kurnool: District Collector Ch Vijaymohan has directed municipal authorities to complete city beautification works like laying CC roads and repairs to compound walls. He also directed them for completion of laying drinking water pipelines within one-and-a-half month.

Reviewing municipal works’ progress at Collectorate here on Wednesday, he said desilting of drains, spraying of anti-larval drug, door-to-door garbage collection and other sanitation works are not progressing along expected lines. By March 31, garbage collection from all households should be completed. He asked officials to detect illegal construction activities and diversion of water to commercial purposes and help increase municipal revenue.

The Collector stated that he would not compromise on quality of the works to be executed. Public utility works should get priority in execution. The works are not being executed at an accelerated pace in spite of availability of funds, contractors, works and modern technology.

Stating that he would monitor progress on weekly basis, he gave ultimatum to authorities that the progress should be perceptible each week. Street lights should be functional in all parts and manual file handling should be replaced with e-file mechanism by next Thursday.

Saplings planted at various places should be protected with tree guards and with regular watering the plants. Municipal Commissioner Ravindrababu, municipal executive engineer Rajasekhar and officials of the civic body were present at the review meeting.

Bankers’ help sought to grade govt schemes

District Collector Vijaymohan on Wednesday sought cooperation of bankers to help grade government schemes extending loans to real beneficiaries at grassroots level undertaking field trips along with the government officials.

Addressing loan sanction committee-2015-16 meeting at the Collectorate here, he asked the government officials to take steps to prevent misuse of government loans availed by people for self-employment ventures. He told the SC, ST, BC and minority welfare department officials to recover the loans from those who misused them.

The bankers brought to the notice of selfish elements mounting pressure on them seeking loans. He asked the bankers to bring such instances to his notice to take action against them. The executive directors of the SC, ST, BC and Minority Corporations and branch managers of various banks took part in the meeting.
