Atmakur (Kurnool): District Congress Committee women’s wing president Momeen Shabana has been providing food free of cost to those trekking a distance of 50 km from here to reach Srisailam for Maha Sivaratri.

She said on Saturday that the free food camp organised by her fed thousands for the past four days. She said that she is providing food as part of people’s welfare activities and without any political motive. The camp provides breakfast and two square meals a day to devotees, those who include the tourists from Karnataka and Maharashtra.

She said that she would increase the number of food camps for the benefit of devotees arriving at Srisailam on foot for Telugu New Year Day of Ugadi.

In addition to food, mineral water bottle is provided. The devotees are being served special food item of payasam made with ghee. The camp is helping satiate the hunger pangs of many a tourist proceeding to Srisailam on foot.
