Hyderabad: Andhra Pradesh Social Welfare Minister Ravela Kishore Babu’s son Susheel has been remanded in judicial custody for 14 days by a magistrate for molesting a married teacher at Banjara Hills. The accused Susheel has been sent to the Chanchalguda jail on court orders.

West Zone DCP A Venkateshwara Rao on Sunday said Ravela Susheel and his car driver M Ramesh Rao were arrested late on Saturday night by the Banjara Hills police on Sunday. The police had on Thursday booked a case against Susheel (24), a student and M Ramesh Rao (22), under section 354, section 354 (d), section 509 of IPC, basing on the complaint given by Fathima Begum, who accused the duo of physically misbehaving with her and passing lewd comments at Road No 13 in Banjara Hills on March 2.

Locals came to her rescue after hearing Fatima's screams for help. They pulled out both the accused from the SUV and thrashed them. The DCP said the woman had furnished incomplete details in the first complaint and in her later complaint mentioned the name of the accused. “On subsequent examination of the complainant and other witnesses, it emerged that Susheel and his driver had misbehaved with the woman. The duo has been booked under the Nirbhaya Act,” the DCP said.

During the investigation, it was found that Ramesh was driving the minister’s car (AP 7 CK 1777) and Susheel was sitting in the rear behind him. "The CC camera footage revealed that between 3 and 3.30 pm, the accused had slowed down the vehicle next to her while she was on her way home from school. Though the frightened woman tried to move away, the accused were adamant and tried to forcibly pull her towards the car," said DCP Venkateshwara Rao during a press meet at his office.

Later in the day, the duo was produced before the magistrate and the accused pleaded for bail. On verifying the severity of the offence, the magistrate denied them bail and remanded them in judicial custody for 14 days and the duo was lodged in the Chanchalguda jail.
