Vijayawada: APCC president N Raghuveera Reddy here on Tuesday said that there was no security for women in the State under the leadership of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu. Addressing women at the APCC headquarters during the International Women’s Day celebrations, Raghuveera Reddy recalled the incidents of Rishiteswari’s death in Acharya Nagarjuna University and the assault on Musunur Tahasildar Vanajakshi by the ruling party legislator Chintamaneni Prabhakar.

He said that several incidents of atrocities against women were reported in the State during the last two years of the TDP rule. He referred to the assault on Musunuru Tahasildar and regretted that the government instead of taking action against the legislator to protect the woman officer, it had threatened the officer.

The APCC chief condemned the attitude of the State government, particularly the Chief Minister towards protection of women in the State. He said that the government had also resorted to physical attack on several women when the Anganwadi workers held the protest for wage revision. AP Congress women’s wing president Padmasree Sunkara and others were present.
