All the six youth aged between 20 to 23 years were have been arrested for performing highly dangerous bike stunts on the highway from Visakhapatnam to Ranasthalam of the Srikakulam district. According to the Police, the boys were also betting huge money on the races.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) of Vizianagaram, A V Ramana, said, the arrested boys were riding expensive imported bikes on the highway between Visakhapatnam and Srikakulam districts. The Police have also seized four bikes and a luxury car from the youth at Nathavalasa junction. According to the Police, most of the arrested boys belong to rich families in Visakhapatnam.

A case has been registered against them under section 336 and 279 of the IPC. DSP said, patrolling will be intensified to prevent races on the highways. Increasing racing activities on the highways of Visakhapatnam have become a new headache for the public and the Police. The local Police have received several complaints on the races in recent past. With a tip-off from locals, the Vizianagarm police have finally caught the racers on Sunday.

The Police said that most of the races are conducted on weekends. According to the locals, as many as 150 bikers have created a ruckus when they held a race from Appu Ghar to Rushikonda recently. They also complained that bikers performed dangerous stunts, risking the lives of other commuters on the road.

With no proper monitoring, the highways have become a racing paradise for the rich kids of Visakhapatnam. The races are not confined only to the dangerous stunts, but also involve exchange of huge amount of money in betting. The locals appealed to the Police to take strict action against such bikers.
