Kurnool: The government hospital here on March 15 donated very rare blood called Bombay Blood Group (also known as HH blood group) to a person from Karnataka to aid his spouse’s treatment.
According to the government hospital blood bank official, the hospital authorities have tested the blood of one James of Parumanchala villae of Nandikotkur of the district because his spouse, who was brought to the hospital for deliver, was found to be anaemic. The authorities found his blood group to be the rare Bombay group and collected and preserved it in the blood bank and informed about it to NGO involved in blood donation Sankalp.
A youth from Karnataka – Veda Murthy – brought a recommendation letter from a hospital in Davanagere, where his wife has been undergoing treatment and requires blood transfusion, and said that he did not get the rare blood group in the entire state. He thanked the government hospital at Kurnool for providing him with the rare group of blood which his wife requires.
