Mild tremors jolt Nellore district

Mild tremors were felt in several areas in Nellore district in the early hours of Thursday. The tremors witnessed in Chakalikonda, Bathinapalli and Vutukuru areas of Vinjamuru mandal and Podalakur, Vinjamur, Atmakur, Duttalur and Varikuntapadu mandals in the district, led to panic among people who rushed out of their houses. Nellore has been experiencing tremors on a frequent basis since several months. Locals stated that such tremors have been occurring frequently and that this was the 15th time, the tremors were witnessed.

While the seismologists who visited the place earlier stated that the tremors were harmless, Political leaders like Union Minister Venkaiah Naidu expressed concern over the recurring tremors.
