AP Govt will act tough on encroached Wakf lands: Palle

Asserting that the State government was committed to welfare of Muslims, Minority Welfare Minister Palle Raghunatha Reddy said that the government would act tough to recover encroached Wakf lands.   Speaking to newsmen here on Thursday, he said the revenue generated from the recovered Wakf lands would be used for the welfare of Muslims. 

Vijayawada: Asserting that the State government was committed to welfare of Muslims, Minority Welfare Minister Palle Raghunatha Reddy said that the government would act tough to recover encroached Wakf lands. Speaking to newsmen here on Thursday, he said the revenue generated from the recovered Wakf lands would be used for the welfare of Muslims.

He said over 11 lakh Muslims had benefited through Ranjan Thofa scheme implemented across the State and added that the government had earmarked Rs 710.54 crore in the current fiscal for the community. The Minister also pointed out that the State government was according priority to the education of Muslim students.

Besides Urdu university in Kurnool, he said a university, after the renowned Muslim scholar Moulana Azad, would be set up in Kadapa catering to the needs of the community. This apart, the State government would also sanction Rs 10 lakh to Muslim youth who intend to study abroad. Meanwhile, Vijayawada West MLA Jaleel Khan said that the government had already chalked out plans to construct an AC Shadikana (a marriage hall) in Vijayawada.
