Pledge water for birds, animals this summer

Rajamahendravaram: Summer is here. The problem of heat is compounded for animals and birds, and it’s important to keep them safe in the coming months, said Pantam Kondala Rao, managing director of CCC local news channel and chairman of Pantam Satyanarayana Charitable Trust (PSCT).

He inaugurated cement water tanks in 110 select places here on Saturday, to provide water upon which countless species of animals and birds depend for survival. He informed that PSCT and cable operators will take forward the programme. Speaking to the media, Kondala Rao said maintaining eco balance is vital by protecting animals and birds.

He said that animals are suffering from stomach ache due to ingestion of plastic and added that milch animals suffer from digestive problems due to consumption of plastic. Kondala Rao said with temperatures rising, it’s advisable to keep pets indoors at all times and added that they could suffer from dehydration, sun stroke or nose bleeds, and in many cases, the exposure can be fatal.

He said if you are concerned about the animals around your home, keep a big bowl of water outside your house for the strays and a shallow tub of water on your balcony for the birds. He said with increasing expansion of cities, birds struggle to find natural water sources and added that every year, several animal and bird deaths due to dehydration are reported due to the above reasons.
