Yetapaka (East Godavari): The Yetapaka police arrested two Maoists in the early hours of Tuesday. They were produced before the media in Rampachodavaram in the afternoon.
Speaking to reporters, East Godavari SP S Raviprakash said that the police arrested Maoists Kaluma Lakuma (26) alias Ravi, a Guthikoya and native of Vissapuram village, and Kaluma Raja (30), also of the same caste and the same village in Yetapaka mandal.
The two Maoists were arrested by Yetapaka police in Jaggaram village forest area while they were moving suspiciously.
According to the SP, in 2009, Lakuma joined Sabari Dalam under the leadership of Moppu Mogili alias Naresh. He worked as Dalam member for about two-and-half years and participated in several offences. He used to carry 303 and SLR weapons.

The SP said that Lakuma participated in the exchange of fire that took place in April 2010 at Durma village of Chhattisgarh State.
In 2010, he participated in setting of fire to a proclainer at Chatti village of Chinturu mandal. In June 2010, he participated in the murder of Home Guard by name Ravva Chaitanya at Chatti village of Chinturu Mandal. In June 2010, he participated in the attack on Edugurallapalli AOP and firing on police personnel. He and his wife surrendered before Bhadrachalam police in 2011. However, in 2015, he joined Sabari Area Committee under the instruction of Kalma Chukka alias Nagesh. He became very close aide of Nagesh who was reportedly involved in extortion of money from contractors and farmers.

In 2015, Lakuma participated in several Maoist activities like distribution of pamphlets, extortion of money, cutting of trees and obstructing roads.

Militia member Kaluma Raja joined Sabari Dalam in 2009 under the leadership of Moppu Mogil alias Naresh. He worked as Dalam member for about one-and-half years and participated in several offences.

In April 2010, he participated in the exchange of fire at Durma village of Chhattisgarh State. In June 2010, he participated in the attack on Edugurallapalli AOP and firing on police personnel. After his arrest and coming out on bail, he again started supporting Maoist activities.

He used to act as a courier agent and was involved in various incidents of pamphlets distribution and extortion of money from contractors and farmers in Chinturu, Yetapaka and Kunavaram limits. He was actively working under K. Chukka alias Nagesh and extorting money.
