In an effort to improve road safety, the Road Transport Authority (RTA) organised an orientation programme for the school vehicle drivers on Sunday. Speaking on the occasion, deputy transport commissioner (DTC) Ch Pratap said that the day-long refresher course includes three main aspects for road safety road signs.

​Tirupati: In an effort to improve road safety, the Road Transport Authority (RTA) organised an orientation programme for the school vehicle drivers on Sunday. Speaking on the occasion, deputy transport commissioner (DTC) Ch Pratap said that the day-long refresher course includes three main aspects for road safety road signs, steps to be followed by the vehicle driver and his assistants in case of mishaps and the methods to overcome stress to enhance driver’s concentration.

Pratap said that the orientation programme will be held in select places, including Chittoor and Madanapalli to cover all the school bus drivers in the district before the reopening of the schools in June as part of improving road safety. He said that the 108 emergency service personnel were involved in the course to impart training on handling the injured during mishaps and also the measures to be taken in the `golden hour’ before the injured were taken to a hospital to save lives.

Tirupati RTO Vivekananda Reddy said that about 300 school bus drivers from Tirupati area attended the programme and added that similar programme will be conducted in Puttur under Tirupati RTA zone soon to cover 600 drivers in the zone.
