Kadapa: As the revenue staffers have been reporting late for duty, revenue offices in many mandals in the district have been wearing a deserted look with skeletal or nil staff. When The Hans India visited several government offices, particularly those that usually witness rush, between 9.30 a.m. and 10.30 a.m. on Friday, most of them wore a deserted look.

At some of the offices, citizens were seen waiting for the staff to turn up. There are 51 mandals in the district and each mandal has one revenue office. At some offices, only a handful of employees and officers report to duty on time. The Tahsildar office at Budvel saw skeletal attendance even at 9.30 a.m., with only Tahsildar Anuradha and Group D employees turning up.

“I came to Tahsildar’s office for getting my land records. I have been waiting for the last two hours for the staff,” said Nagendra of Vempalle. “The higher-ups must ensure the employees follow the timings. Action must be taken against those who don’t,” he added. When contacted District Revenue Officer Sulochana said disciplinary action would be taken against employees if they were absent from office without permission from section heads.

However, she said that she had not yet received complaints on irregular attendance of employees in government offices. She said that the introduction of biometric attendance in government offices can be one of the solutions to curtail late coming and irregular attendance of employees.
