Irregularities in housing scheme alleged

Rajamahendravaram: YSRCP MLC Adireddi Appa Rao sought an inquiry into the alleged irregularities in the construction of houses at Lalacheruvu in the city.
The YSRCP leaders along with CPM and CPI activists staged a dharna in front of the Sub-Collector’s office here on Saturday.
Addressing the gathering, the MLC said out of 360 houses, 240 were allocated to beneficiaries on lottery basis and the remaining 120 were allotted to unqualified beneficiaries. Former MLA Routhu Suryaprakasa Rao said “There are innumerable irregularities. Ineligible persons had been sanctioned houses without the permission of the revenue and housing authorities.
He alleged the role of Janmabhoomi Committees and local TDP leaders in the selection of beneficiaries. CPI (M) district secretariat member T Arun said the State government should order a probe into the irregularities in housing scheme and prepare a list afresh in a transparent manner so as to benefit the deserving people.
