VMC Schools score 90% success in SSC

Vijayawada: Vijayawada Municipal Corporation (VMC) high schools achieved 90 per cent success in the SSC public examinations.

The results were declared on Tuesday. In all, 1,827 students passed the examination against the 2,019 students attended the examination from 28 high schools.

The VMC runs English, Telugu and Urdu medium high schools in the city and trying to impart quality education. Efforts of the officials, teachers and students paid rich dividends.

Telugu medium schools achieved 87 per cent, English medium schools scored 94 per cent and Urdu medium schools got 96 per cent success in the SSC examinations.

Mayor Koneru Sridhar and Municipal Commissioner G Veerapandian congratulated the school staff, students and education department officials on the occasion.

A total of 990 Telugu medium students passed out of 1,139 attended. Of the 833 English medium students attended the exam, 782 students passed. A total of 55 Urdu medium students passed against the 57 attended with pass percentage of 96.

Twelve schools achieved 90 per cent success and seven schools scored 80 to 89 per cent success in the examination. Two schools scored between 70 and 79 and three schools achieved less than 70 per cent success.

Kowtha Subbarao Telugu Medium High School in Poornanandampet and Mohmamed Alipuram School in Wynchipet scored 100 per cent success in the examination. The VMC Deputy Education Officer, K Durga Prasad and supervisor M Venkateswara Rao greeted the students and parents on the occasion.

Krishna stood in 9th place in SSC results
The overall pass percentage of the SSC in Krishna district is 93.11 for the year 2015-16 against 91.36 in the previous year. While the district was placed in 10th position earlier, it stood in 9th position in the results declared on Tuesday.

As per the information from District Education Officer A Subba Reddy, a total 56,356 students appeared for the examinations. Out of them, 52,471 passed the exams. Out of the appeared candidates for exams, 29,280 were boys and 27,076 girls. Out of the appeared boys, 27,164 passed and as many as 25,307 girls made through the examinations. The pass percentage of boys was 92.77 and it was 93.47 for girls.

From Zilla Parishad, municipal and aided schools in the district, 485 students scored 10 out of 10 Grade Point Average (GPA). There are 120 schools which registered 100 per cent pass percentage. However, there are no schools which showed 0 (zero) per cent in the results, added DEO.

Supplementary examinations will begin from June 16. Last day for application submission and other details are yet to be clarified, he added.
