Vijayawada: As part of the statewide campaign launched by state government for construction of harvesting structures to save the storm
water, a harvesting pit was dug at the residence of Mayor Koneru Sridhar in Patamata on Wednesday. A seven feet deep pit with radius of
four feet was dug to save the storm water. While 50 per cent of the pit was filled with 40 mm metal, 25 per cent was filled with 20 mm
metal and finally covered with sand.

Measures were taken to flow the rainwater towards the pit. Municipal commissioner G Veerapandian and engineering officials attended
the event. Though the State government is campaigning intensely for construction of harvesting structures in the city, there was no
response from the public. The Mayor responded and dug the pit at his residence.
