YSRCP President YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Monday kick-started the three-day Jala Deeksha in Kurnool as a protest against TDP government's alleged failure in preserving Krishna waters and Telangana government for planning irrigation projects over Godavari river.

Thousands of farmers came in to support YS Jagan along with the YSRCP leaders and legislators. YS Jagan, who arrived at the location from Pulivendula, was warmly welcomed by MLAs Gowru Charitha Reddy, Ijaiah, former MLA Murali, MP Butta Renuka, and others while he garlanded the bust of late leader YS Rajasekhara Reddy.

Speaking on the occasion, YSRCP senior leader and party spokesperson, Ambati Rambabu cited reasons for YS Jagan to stage the protest. Faulting the TRS government for constructing the irrigation projects by illegal means, Ambati Rambabu questioned Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu for maintaining silence on the issue. The YSRCP leader further said that the Opposition party has come to the fore raising its voice for the concerns of people as the ruling party is maintaining silence.
