Opposes move to remove houses on railway land

Speaking on the occasion, he said it was not correct on the part of the South Central Railway (SCR) to serve notices on the dwellers asking them to vacate the place immediately. Many poor families living on the railway land for over a decade would be rendered homeless if they were evicted from the place.

An all-party delegation comprising the CPI, CPM, Congress, and YSR Congress Party, would meet the Vijayawada Divisional Railway Manager on Monday and urge him to reconsider the decision to remove the houses in Old Rajarajeswaripeta keeping in view the interests of poor dwellers, Shankar said.

The CPI city executive member, Butti Rayappa, division secretary Khaleel Baig, Boya Sattibabu of CPM, Sheik Khurshida of Congress, Battula Pandu of YSRCP and others were present.
