Cyclone Roanu, which now crossed the coast in Bangladesh, has not given any respite from scorching heat to Nelloreans while other parts of the State witnessed huge rains. Only southern parts of the district like Tada, Sullurpet, Kota, Vakadu and other border mandal received good rainfall for a short span and now the district has lost cool breezes from the sea. 

Nellore: Cyclone Roanu, which now crossed the coast in Bangladesh, has not given any respite from scorching heat to Nelloreans while other parts of the State witnessed huge rains. Only southern parts of the district like Tada, Sullurpet, Kota, Vakadu and other border Mandal received good rainfall for a short span and now the district has lost cool breezes from the sea.

Though severe heat conditions prevailed in the month of May first week, there were breezes from south and east that relieved people from scorching heat. They expected some relief from these conditions due to the cyclonic system which normally provides good rainfall.

But, the city received 9 cm on an average in two days and even temperatures at 38 and 39 degrees Celsius are also now unbearable for the population with no relief from southerly breezes. As usual, westerly strong and hot winds started and Saturday found to be a hot day with 38 degrees Celsius.
