Visakhapatnam: Seven Union Ministers would be visiting various parts of the State during next couple of days to take part in the second-anniversary celebrations of the NDA government, said BJP State president Dr K Haribabu. Haribabu and other local leaders participated in the celebrations held in the city on Monday and later spoke to presspersons.
Union Ministers Dharmendra Pradhan (Petroleum), Smriti Irani (HRD), Ravi Shankar Prasad (IT), Uma Bharti (Water Resources) among others would be visiting Rajamahendravaram, Tirupati, Kakinada and Vijayawada. Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley is likely to visit Visakhapatnam after June 15, he added.
Haribabu said that Union government was giving special attention to the State and had sanctioned almost nine premier institutes in the last two years. He said out of those already seven institutes had already begun operations. Institutes like NIPER, Petroleum University, IIFT and Indian Institute of Packaging that were not part of the AP Reorganisation Act were also sanctioned.
AIIMS was also sanctioned and would set up in Mangalagiri, he added. Regarding BJP strengthening in the State, Haribabu said BJP was concentrating on AP to strengthen its base. The membership of the party before bifurcation in the State was only 2.5 lakh and after two years the membership had swelled to 25 lakh, he said.
He said they would further strengthen the party base with the help of Modi’s welfare programmes and schemes like Make in India and Digital India. Haribabu hoped that Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu, who would be nominated to Rajya Sabha from the State, would fulfil the wish of AP people by announcing separate railway zone to the State.
