In the wake of the 13 people arrested in connection with the Ratnachal Express burning case in Tuni, Kapu leader Mudragada Padmanabham on Thursday launched an indefinite hunger strike demanding the release of those arrested along with the implementation of reservations to his community.

Mudragada stated that he is the sole person responsible for the Tuni incident which is the reason, cases should be filed only against him and those innocent people were being harassed by the police in false cases.

Mudragada sat on the indefinite hunger strike at his residence in Kirlampudi along with his wife Padmavathi and announced that the Deeksha would not stop until the demands are met. The Kapu leader even said that he would resist all attempts by the government to arrest him and continue his Deeksha in jail.

Thousands of supporters thronged Mudragada's residence in Kirlampudi and are prepared to stop the police who were trying to arrest the leader. The Kapu leader stated that while several ministers and TDP leaders in February had assured that his demands on Kapu reservations would be considered, no action has been taken till date.
