Senior Congress leader V Hanumantha Rao was arrested on Sunday for trying to visit Kapu leader Mudragada Padmanabham in Rajahmundry.

Police reached the hotel, the Congress leader was staying in, so as to stop him from making a visit to the Rajahmundry government hospital where the Kapu leader is undergoing indefinite hunger strike for the fourth day. While Hanumantha Rao resisted the arrest, he was later taken into custody and shifted to one-town police station.

While the Congress leader strongly condemned the measures, the TDP government were resorting to, against the Kapu reservation movement, YSR Congress Party spokesperson Ambati Rambabu, on the other hand, demanded Kapu leader to be brought in front of the media so that people are aware of his health condition.

Questioning as to why the government is not allowing media to meet Mudragada, Ambati Rambabu said that the Kapu leader was being treated like a terrorist such as Kasab and that Rajahmundry has become a Pakistan.
