Vijayawada: The State government is planning to organise farmers programme in a big way in all the districts. Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu will inaugurate the Yeruvaka Pournami programme in West Godavari district on June 20.

As part of motivating farmers on good harvesting, the government is planning to organise Yeruvaka Pournami as a festival. Farmers will decorate their cattle, perform pujas before starting Yeruvaka to begin cultivation.

The government released guidelines on the Yeruvaka programme to all districts and District Collector would act as chairman for the committee formed to organise Yeruvaka programme with the cooperation of joint director of agriculture department and officials.

The State government formulated an action plan to improve cultivation during kharif season.As part of the programme, the officials are planning to organise exhibition of agricultural inputs and various types of cultivation methods.

The sericulture, horticulture, fisheries, AP Seeds and AP Agros are planning to set up exhibition stalls and the officials are planning to organise awareness programmes for farmers on soil testing and usage of fertilisers and natural farming.

The government is planning to introduce e-crop booking to purchase agricultural produce from farmers at premium price. The officials will explain to farmers on Prime Minister’s Fasal Bima Yojana.

As part of programme the officials make arrangements for seed treatment, soil testing and usage of fertilisers to bring awareness among farmers.

The State government allotted Rs 1 lakh for each district to organise the programme and agricultural officials are determined to make it a grand success. Ministers, MLAs, Zilla Parishad and Panchayat representatives and officials will participate in the programme.
