1.08 lakh toilets to be built by end of 2016.
MP Kesineni Srinivas said on Monday 1.08 lakh individual toilets would be constructed in Vijayawada Parliamentary constituency limits by the end of 2016. The MP along with Machilipatnam MP Konakalla Narayana visited Chandrapuram village of Nandigama mandal and launched the pilot project for construction of toilets under the Swacha Bharat mission on Monday.Â
​Vijayawada: MP Kesineni Srinivas said on Monday 1.08 lakh individual toilets would be constructed in Vijayawada Parliamentary constituency limits by the end of 2016. The MP along with Machilipatnam MP Konakalla Narayana visited Chandrapuram village of Nandigama mandal and launched the pilot project for construction of toilets under the Swacha Bharat mission on Monday.
The Government of India has initiated the project with the support of Tata Trust services.
Addressing the gathering, the MP said a survey has been conducted in 264 village. It was identified that 1.08 lakh toilets should be constructed in the constituency. He said the survey works has been completed in Tiruvuru, Mylavaram, Nandigama and Jaggaiahpeta Assembly constituencies.
He said the Government is working with the centre for peoples foresty (CPF) for construction of toilets in the constituency. The MP has announced that 264 co-ordinators were appointed in these villages to supervise the works. The MP said another 2.52 lakh more toilets should be constructed in Krishna district.
He said 110 internet Sathis were appointed in the district to train the women on the use of tablets. He said the Tata Trust has taken up the project to educate women on the use of internet. Nandigama MLA Tangirala Swomya has said the district is backward on use of toilets even after 70 years of getting Independence.
Jaggaiahpet MLA Sriram Tataiah, Tata Trust director Pavitra Kumar, local MPTC members, ZPTC members, sarpanches attended the meeting.
