Eluru: City police arrested two fake Naxals on the charges of extortion, and seized a car, air pistol, letterheads of banned CPIML Chandra Pullareddy group and three mobiles.

Speaking to press persons here on Friday, district SP Bhaskar Bhushan said that Repaka Sriramulu alias Prasad (44) of Bodlada village under Nellikuduru mandal of Warangal district, Ponugonti Venkateswara Rao (41) of Rayaparti Mandal of Warangal

district had been extorting money from Ambica group management for a decade. They collected Rs 18 lakhs from the owners of Ambica group during the ten years.

The duo again on July 2 called up Alapati Vajra Ambica Prasad demanding Rs 50 lakh. As the Ambica group’s chairman Ambica Krishna is not in the city, Ambica Prasad informed the matter to the police.

On the directions of the police, on Friday Ambica Prasad went to Chodimella outskirts village. When the duo Venkateswara Rao and Sriramulu came to collect the money, the Two Town SI Allu Durga Rao along with his personnel arrested the accused.

During interrogation, the accused confessed that they had been extorting money from traders, realtors of AP, Telangana and Karnataka states by posing themselves as Naxals from 2000 onwards.

The SP said that the duo collected Rs 30 lakh during last 10 years. He stated that earlier both accused were arrested and 13 cases filed against them.

Those cases were under trial in various courts, the SP added. The police seized Hyundai I20 car, Blanka air pistol, letterheads in the name of CPIML Prajapratighatna Chandra Pullareddy group central committee general secretary, three mobiles, five sim cards from the accused. The SP complimented the Two Town and special branch police personnel on their efforts to nab the accused.
