Vijayawada: The Gannavaram airport is ready for the extra operations expected during the Krishna Pushkaralu, said airport director G Madhusudana Rao.
Speaking to the members of the Andhra Pradesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry Federation, here on Monday, Madhusudana Rao said that he had already informed the airlines operators about the preparedness of the airport for the unscheduled operations during Pushkaralu.
He said that the interim passenger terminal is also getting ready for operations and asserted that the airline operators and the passengers would make use of it.
The terminal would be kept open for the Pushkaralu, he asserted. He further said that they have constructed 10 parking bases in addition to the existing six parking bases.
Out of these ten, five would also be ready for the Krishna Pushkaralu, he said and asserted that the airport thus would be able to provide more parking space for the unscheduled services during holy event.
Rao said that the Krishna district administration had agreed to hand over 698 acres of land to the airport by end of this month. The airport required this land for its expansion including the runway, he said.
