Tadikonda (Guntur): Krishna Pushkaralu works are going at a snail’s pace because of lack of coordination among officials, and the contractors are being negligent in the execution of works even as only 24 days are left for the event.

People are worried whether or not the works would complete on time. However, the elected representatives, reviewing the works, are asking the officials that the works should be completed by July 25.

The State government is keen on making arrangements for Pushkaralu spending more than that it had spent on Godavari Pushkaralu last year. But there is no apparent pace in execution of works.

Sixteen mandals in eight Assembly constituencies are located on the banks of River Krishna. The authorities have decided to construct 78 bathing ghats in addition to developing link and approach roads. The people are wondering when these works would be completed with the event fast approaching. According to the Hindu Dharma Parirakshana Samiti district vice-president Srinivas, the Chief Minister had ordered officials that the arrangements should be splendid as the proposed new capital of the State is located fully on the banks of River Krishna.

In fact the villages had witnessed no significant activity during the events like this. But officials are making special arrangements as all eyes are on Amaravati city.

The government started bathing ghats’ construction and laying of roads in villages on the river bank such as Tallayapalem, Venkata Palem, Lingayapalem, Rayapudi, Harischandrapuram, Uddandarayuni palem, Sitanagaram and Undavalli for the event.

The government has been building a special bathing ghat merging two ghats from Dhyana Budhdha project to Amareswara temple, which are 1.6 km apart, developing the area as Pushkara Nagar expecting Amaravati would experience huge crowds for the event.

Unless the crucial works are completed, the other development works for the event might get delayed. If this is the sorry state of affairs in Amaravati, which would have the highest number of footfalls, condition of other places in terms of Pushkaralu development works can be imagined.

The works in places like Tenali, Macharla, Gurajala, Pedakurapadu, Repalle, Vemuru constituencies likely to be delayed further.

The locals have been breathing fire on the style of functioning of officials in getting the works done.
