​Eluru: In a ghastly act, four persons beheaded a 28-year-old youth and walked away with his head after burying his body at Marlagudem forest area in Buttayagudem Agency mandal of West Godavari district.

According to police, Raju of Pandugudem village in Buttayagudem mandal had a quarrel at Jangareddigudem centre on Saturday late night with Sunkara Pavan, Mukku Srinu, Bhasha and another person. Raju was working as a tailor in Jangareddigudem.

When Raju was returning to his house at Panduvarigudem village and reached Marlagudem forest area, both Pavan, Srinu allegedly attacked him and chopped of his legs, hands and beheaded him.

The culprits took the head with them after burying his torso in the forest area. On Sunday afternoon, the villagers found a stick with blood marks in the forest area and also found a grave nearby.

A police team rushed to the spot and dug out the headless body. Sniffer dogs from Eluru reached the spot but couldn’t go beyond a point due to heavy rains.

The body was sent for post-mortem to Jangareddigudem. Meanwhile, the police received information that a head was floating in Chakalicheruvu in Jangaredigudem. The owner of Tirumala tailors identified him as Raju. The police also called on the family members of the victim. Police managed to arrest alleged killers Pavan, a notorious criminal, Mukku Srinu and Bhasha and began investigation.
