Union Minister for Commerce and Industry, Nirmala Sitharaman, in her written reply in Rajya Sabha here on Wednesday said that there was no proposal to form the Tirupati-Chennai-Nellore as a tri-city industrial growth corridor as this region fell under the influence zone of two industrial corridors that were already proposed. 

New Delhi: Union Minister for Commerce and Industry, Nirmala Sitharaman, in her written reply in Rajya Sabha here on Wednesday said that there was no proposal to form the Tirupati-Chennai-Nellore as a tri-city industrial growth corridor as this region fell under the influence zone of two industrial corridors that were already proposed.

The Centre had already proposed Chennai-Bengaluru Industrial Corridor (CBIC) and Vishakhapatnam-Chennai Industrial Corridor (VCIC). She said under the VCIC, Asian Development Bank had initiated the process of master planning of four nodes - Visakhapatnam, Kakinada,

Gannavaram - Kankipadu and Srikalahasti - Yeredu in Andhra Pradesh as identified in the comprehensive development plan. Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor Development Corporation had been entrusted with the task of getting the detailed master plan.

Preliminary, engineering and environment impact assessment of three nodes namely Ponneri (Tamil Nadu), Krishnapatnam (AP) and Tumkur (Karnataka) would also be done by it, she said.
