Rajamahendravaram Urban police seized 3,792 kg ganja worth Rs 1.5 crore and arrested six persons at Jegurupadu village in Kadiyam mandal on Sunday evening.

The police also seized five vehicles including one truck, two Eicher vans, one Santro and one Tata Indica and eight mobiles along with Rs 12,000 from the possession of the accused.
Two other accused are still at large and police launched a manhunt to nab them.
The arrested were identified as Goluguri Satannarayana Reddy of Anaparthy in East Godavari, Pamulapati Srinivas of Ramireddypeta in Guntur district, Shaik Subhani of Narasaraopeta in Guntur district, Chodavarapu Rajesh Kumar of Rajamahendravaram and Nadelli Nani Babu of Konthamuru village in Rajamahendravaram rural mandal.
Two other accused Chitti Babu of Koyyur village in Visakhapatnam district and Chouhan of Hyderabad were absconding. The arrested were sent to judicial remand.
Rajamahendravaram Urban SP B Raja Kumari said acting on a tip-off, police intercepted vehicles transporting ganja from Anaparthy during vehicle check-up at Jegurupadu village.
She said that they seized ganja worth Rs 1.5 crore neatly packed in 12 small bags. The ganja was being transported from Koyyuru village of Visakhapatnam.
It may be mentioned here that the prime accused in the case, Goluguri Satyannarayana Reddy of Anaparthy was sentenced to 14 years in prison in ganja case at Jaggampeta in East Godavari district in 2010.
He was also an accused in a kidnap case. Speaking to the media here on Monday, the SP said that the arrested were only involved in transportation of ganja and Chitti Babu and Chouhan, who were at large, were the main accused in this case.
The SP said that Rajamahendravaram has become a transit point for ganja smuggling. She said that police were taking all steps to curb smuggling.
She said that most of the offenders in ganja smuggling are from Gokavaram mandal in East Godavari district.
