State 2nd in implementation of e-PoS in PDS, says Sunitha

Srikakulam: The State government introduced revolutionary changes in Civil Supplies department and public distribution system (PDS) to offer best services to the needy, said Civil Supplies Minister Paritala Sunitha here on Thursday.

She said that AP stands second in the implementation of PDS by introducing the e-PoS (Electronic Point of Sale) machines in ration shops. During the ‘Dial Your Minister’ programme, the Minister received petitions from the public on irregularities in fair price shops (FPS).

She appealed to FPS dealers not to resort to unfair practices as government had enhanced their commission from Rs 20 to Rs 70 per quintal of rice and other essential commodities. She said that this move would impose an extra burden of Rs 170 crore on the State exchequer.

She also directed the FPS dealers to return undelivered Ramzan Tohfa kits to social welfare hostels.Later, the Minister laid the foundation stone for the construction of a petrol bunk at 80 Feet Road here.

Speaking on the occasion, Sunitha said that the government was already operating two fuel bunks in Visakhapatnam and West Godavari districts respectively. She said that the government would soon open 21 fuel bunks across the State.

Minister for Labour and Employment K Atchannaidu, Government Whip K Ravikumar, Zilla Parishad chairperson Ch Dhanalaxmi, MLA G Laxmi Devi, Collector P Laxminarasimham, Joint Collector Vivek Yadav, District Supply Officer V Subramanyam and Civil Supplies District Manager H V Jayaram were also present.
