Vijayawada: The agitation by TDP MPs in New Delhi and stalling of Lok Sabha for the past two days seems to have had its impact on the Union Government.

Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley spoke with Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu over phone and assured him that the Centre was committed to help the state as mentioned in the Bifurcation Act and promised in Parliament and outside.

Naidu is likely to go to Delhi on August 4 to invite President Pranab Mukherjee, Vice-President Hamid Ansari, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other VIPs for Krishna Pushkaralu. He would utilise the occasion to raise the issues concerning the state during his meeting with the Prime Minister.

Speaking to media persons here late on Tuesday evening, Naidu expressed confidence that the government would come out with a statement shortly.

He blamed the Congress and the YSRCP for not fighting for the State issues when the TDP MPs were fighting. Naidu said, “I am very cautious and don’t want to harm the interests of the State for political reasons. I will wait till the last minute to get justice done to the State,” he said.
