Rajamahendravaram: As a result of the incessant rains in most parts of the two Telugu States, the water level in the Godavari has been increasing steadily.

By Saturday evening, water level at the Dowleswaram Barrage was 10.9 feet and the discharge of water into the Bay of Bengal was 4.64 lakh cusecs.

Officials of the Irrigation Department also released10,800 cusecs of water into the eastern delta canal, the central delta canal and the western delta canal during the day.

As the water level touched 33 feet at Bhadrachalam, officials of the Revenue and Irrigation departments were on the alert and the situation was being monitored on an hourly basis.

Meanwhile, the water level at Kaleswaram touched 7.47 meters, Peruru-11.36 meters, Dummugudem-9.42 meters, Koonavaram-11.90 meters, Kunta-10.96 meters, Koida-7.36 meters, Polavaram-9.72 meters and Rajamahendravaram-14.92 meters.
