Amalapuram: YSRCP president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy, who consoled the two Sudapalem Dalit attack victims in the Area Hospital, here on Friday, demanded compensation of Rs.8.25 lakh to each under the provisions of the SC/ST Act. After calling on the victims’ families, he demanded strong action against the attackers.
Later, addressing media persons, Jagan criticised Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu for not visiting Amalapuram even though he toured the district after the attack. He described the incident in the constituency of Deputy CM and Home Minister N Chinarajappa as ‘unfortunate’.The YSRCP chief accused the police of being negligent in providing assistance to the victims, who, he said were severely beaten after being tied to a tree despite shouting about their non-involvement in skinning of a dead cow.
Among those who accompanied Jagan were MLAs Chirla Jaggi Reddy, Dadisetty Raja, Vantala Rajeswari, district party convener K Kannababu, former Ministers P Viswaroop, P Subashachandra Bose and YSRCP SC,ST youth cell chairman M Nagarjuna.
