Rajamahendravaram: Former MLA and YSRCP city convener Routhu Surya Prakash Rao said the NTR Housing scheme implemented by the TDP government has failed to take off for lack of proper planning.

Speaking to reporters here on Saturday, Surya Prakash Rao said that the YSRCP government in 2004, had acquired 80 acres in five government lands and one private land in the city and started construction of 10,000 houses and completed it in 10 years time in a phased manner.

He alleged that the TDP government failed to acquire even one acre of land for the construction of houses in the city. He said that beneficiaries were not provided basic civic infrastructure and social amenities despite Rs 12 crore was released before 2014 elections. He said that the TDP government was inaugurating houses constructed during YSR regime.

Surya Prakash Rao said that it was only recently Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu had inaugurated 2,600 houses near Ramakrishna Theatre on August 11 and promised to release Rs 3 crore for developing infrastructure. He demanded that the government provide all facilities so that eligible beneficiaries do not suffer.
