The RTC is using technology to deliver better services and for the first time a Central Control Room was set up to monitor crowd movement across the State. It also formed WhatsApp groups to share information to keep the officials updated on various issues.
Vijayawada: APSRTC buses witnessed a heavy rush on Sunday with the rise in number of pilgrims coming to the Pushkar Ghats to take a holy dip. About 24,004 pilgrims for an hour are travelling by RTC buses in three districts of Krishna, Guntur and Kurnool. As many as 2,03,088 pilgrims have used the RTC buses up to 6 pm on Sunday during the Pushkaralu.

Speaking to The Hans India, executive director of APSTRC Jaya Rao said the total number of pilgrims travelled in RTC buses across the State during Pushkaralu is 4,43,388 between August 12 and 14.
About 96,805 pilgrims used RTC buses in the city on Sunday, and it is 2,34,384 between August 12 and 14 (up to 6 pm). In Guntur district 1,14,466 pilgrims travelled on Sunday, and it is 1,91,695 between August 12 and 14. In Kurnool district, 13,120 pilgrims travelled on Sunday, and it is 27,648 between August 12 and 14.
About 40,000 pilgrims travelled in free buses in the city on August 12, and it is 60,000 State-wide. The second day (August 13) of Pushkaralu, 45,600 pilgrims in the city and 91,000 State-wide travelled in RTC buses. The RTC is operating 1,270 free buses in the city and 540 buses in Guntur district (60 free buses).
Railways are also running special trains for the convenience of pilgrims. Pilgrims across the State and from other States are coming to Vijayawada to participate in Krishna Pushkaralu.
The pilgrims came to the city on Sunday (up to 6 pm) by special trains are 68,166 and the total pilgrims from August 12-14 are 1,40,132 (only by special trains).
Jaya Rao said that the RTC has made elaborate arrangements for the convenience of pilgrims in Krishna, Guntur and Kurnool districts. The RTC, for the first time, set up a Command Control room at the Pandit Nehru bus station which is allowing the officials to know information immediately about the rush in the other districts also.
