AP to honour Sindhu today
The Andhra Pradesh government is all set to felicitate Rio Olympics Silver medalist PV Sindhu at Indira Gandhi Municipal Corporation (IGMC) Stadium here on Tuesday.
​Vijayawada: The Andhra Pradesh government is all set to felicitate Rio Olympics Silver medalist PV Sindhu at Indira Gandhi Municipal Corporation (IGMC) Stadium here on Tuesday.
The state government, Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh, Sports Associations and AP Badminton Association would be organizing a reception and civic honor to Sindhu on her victory at Rio. She will arrive at Gannavaram Airport at 8.30 am on and reach the stadium in a rally.
The Krishna district administration had held a meeting with the officials of the education department at the ZP High School at Nidamanuru on Monday to gather students for the rally and the event as well. The district administration is planning to mobilize 10,000 students from various educational institutions.
The AP Badminton Association and Krishna district association also held a meeting at the DRMC Indoor Stadium preparing the programme.
Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, who will felicitate Sindhu, would also give Rs 3 crore cash prize to Sindhu and Rs 50 lakh cash prize to her coach Pullela Gopichand.
Later Sindhu will visit Durga Ghat to take holy dip and in the evening she will attend the concluding session of Krishna Pushkaralu to be held at the Pavitra Sangamam Ghat at Ibrahimpatnam in the evening.
There will be traffic diversions for the rally from the airport to the city. The police all vehicles coming from Eluru will be diverted from Gannavaram through BB Gudem and Nunna to reach Vijayawada inner ring road. The vehicular traffic at Ramavarappadu and Benz Circle would also be diverted for the rally.
