Rajamahendravaram: Deputy Chief Minister K E Krishna Murthy said that country could progress, if villages were developed. He said that in an endeavour to uplift the villages, State and Central governments were implementing programmes like Swachh Bharat and employment guarantee scheme.

Speaking on the occasion, K E Krishna Murthy lauded the people of G Medapadu village for solid waste management, underground drainage system, banning plastic and eliminating open defecation. He mentioned that developmental programmes would be taken up in Rayalaseema region by following the suit of Medapadu village.

He lashed out at opposition parties and accused them of making baseless comments, even though the State government was taking steps to save crops. Stating that land records were available online on web land portal, the Deputy Chief Minister said that 90 per cent of the farmers were benefitted by ‘Mee Intiki Mee Bhoomi’, which was organised for making changes and amendments in records.

Home Minister Chinarajappa pledged that he would transform all the villages in Peddapuram constituency as model villages in the lines of G Medapadu. He said that road development between Samalkot-Peddapuram, Achhampeta-Gonchala and Peddapuram-Ramachandrapuram were taken up.

He informed that a new building would be constructed for the offices of marketing committees, RDO, DSP and tahsildar in Peddapuram division. He added that proposals worth of Rs 70 crore has been sent for another railway fly-over bridge in Samalkot. MLCs Reddy Subrahmanyam, Boddu Bhaskara Rama Rao, District Collector H Arun Kumar and ZP chairman Namana Rambabu were also present.
