Inculcate Gandhian values in future citizens: Anil Dutta Mishra
Mishra was inaugurating a two-day UGC-sponsored national seminar on “Relevance of Gandhian Ideology to the Present” held in collaboration with National Council of Rural Institutes, Hyderabad and UGC Gandhian Studies Centre, Sri Y N College, Narsapur in Sri SKSD Women’s College (autonomous) on Saturday.
Tanuku: Deputy Director, National Gandhi Museum, Anil Dutta Mishra said that Gandhian ideology is very relevant in the present days for developing self-reliance and sustainability in the country.
Mishra was inaugurating a two-day UGC-sponsored national seminar on “Relevance of Gandhian Ideology to the Present” held in collaboration with National Council of Rural Institutes, Hyderabad and UGC Gandhian Studies Centre, Sri Y N College, Narsapur in Sri SKSD Women’s College (autonomous) on Saturday.
Speaking on the occasion, he said, “In the global world if we want to compete with the changing strategies and global developments, Gandhian principles are very significant. If you want to understand India, we have to understand Mahatma Gandhi in text and context. Gandhiji was a by-product of global culture and is a creative person who created history.”
Mishra said that Gandhi is a practical idealist and upholder of morality. He added that in the present context Gandhian values are declining because fundamentally there is something missing in the society. He asked the delegates and students to practice Gandhian values in a practical way.
College Secretary and Correspondent Chitturi Subba Rao in his welcome address said that it is the responsibility of the youth to spread Gandhian values to the future generations so that they can understand the relevance of Gandhiji in the present
context.
In this inaugural session, Principal, Adikavi Nannaya University, Prof K S Ramesh, Managing Trustee of Mahatma Gandhi International Cancer Centre, Padmasri M R Raju and retired Principal Dr G Tammayya addressed the gathering. In-charge Principal of the college, Dr J Jhansi presided over the seminar.
Secretary and Correspondent of SKSD Women’s College, Dr Chitturi Subba Rao and Padmasri Dr M R Raju, MD, Mahatma Gandhi International Cancer Centre, Bhimavaram, inaugurated the photo exhibition on Mahatma Gandhi conducted by Gandhian Studies Centre (UGC), Sri Y N College, Narsapur. Dr K Radha Pushpavathi, senior faculty member welcomed the guests and seminar director Dr B Naga Padmavathi presented the objectives of the seminar.
