Kakinada: ACB officials lead by DSP Ramachandra Rao laid a trap and booked Civil Supplies Corporation (CSC) assistant manager M J K Raj Kumar while accepting money from a contractor for a favour in East Godavari Collectorate premises on Friday. The ACB sleuths conducted the raids based on a complaint by a transport contractor.
According to ACB sources, a PDS vehicle contractor Vaitla Venkata Rao was awarded the contract to supply PDS items from Mandal Level Supply (MLS) points to PDS shops in Alamuru and Kapileswarapuram mandals in East Godavari.
In order to handover the transport contract a letter was stuck for Rs 20,000 though the official said to have demanded Rs 30,000.
The contractor sounded the ACB officials who in turn laid a trap and caught the official while accepting money in his office premises in collectorate on Friday. He was later arrested.
