Eluru: CPM West Godavari district Committee meeting demanded the government to take up constructive measures to control the pollution in the Gontheru and Yanamadurru drains in the delta area of the district. The meeting was held at CPM District office Uudharaju Ramam Bhavan on Sunday. Party district secretariat member Chintakayala Babu Rao presided over the meeting.

Speaking as the chief guest, CPM State Secretariat member V Umamaheswara Rao criticised the BJP and TDP governments in Centre and State for its failure in fulfilling the election promises.

He alleged that after the NDA government came to power, attacks on minorities and Dalits have been rising and called upon people to unite to protect the secularism of the country. He alleged that the State government under the guise of industrialisation has been grabbing the lands from the poor farmers and using suppression methods on the people who opposed the forcible land acquisition. CPM district Secretary B Balaram said that the party will hold a padayatra during the next two months up to December on public grievances.

He said the padayatra against the construction of Godavari Mega Aqua Food Park at Tundurru will be held on October 24 from Tundurru village and it will reach Narsapuram on November 4. On November 4, a maha dharna will be organised at Sub-Collector office in Narsapuram, he added.

Party State committee member Manthena Sitaram said that on the occasion of Soviet October revolution centenary celebrations, programmes will be conducted from November 7 to next year November 7 in the district. During the centenary celebration year of October Revolution, seminars, meetings will be conducted all over the district, he added. Party district leaders Gudipati Narasimha Rao, K Raja Rama Mohan Roy, JNV Gopalan, Juttiga Narasimha Murthy, A Ravi and others participated in the meeting.
