18-month-old girl dies after hospital refuses to accept old currency notes

Gajuwaka: 18-month-old girl succumbed to death as she failed to get timely medical treatment in Visakhapatnam as the hospital refused to accept the defunct currency notes.

The girl identified as Komali was suffering from viral fever and her parents took her to a private hospital for treatment. However, the hospital authorities refused to accept the old notes for the medical tests following which the parents returned back as they were unable to new currency notes.

Hours later, the girl succumbed to fever. Komali's mother Lakshmi Sarada, blamed the hospital authorities for her death and rued that if the hospital had accepted the old notes, her child would have survived.
