Ongole: Joint Collector Dr Hari Jawaharlal asked the people to stand by the unsung heroes of Armed Forces who sacrificed their lives for the country. He was the chief guest at the Armed Forces Flag Day celebrations at the District Army Welfare Office in Ongole. He flagged off the rally taken out by the retired personnel, members of families of Armed Forces and NCC cadets.

He was the chief guest at the Armed Forces Flag Day celebrations at the District Army Welfare Office in Ongole. He flagged off the rally taken out by the retired personnel, members of families of Armed Forces and NCC cadets.
The Central government introduced the Armed Forces Flag Day in 1949 to manage the welfare of defence personnel. The civil population of the country show their love and respect towards the forces by donating money by accepting the flags from the Army Welfare Department.
In the meeting at the Old RIMS complex, the Joint Collector donated money and said, “The Indian government announced today as the flag day to remember the sacrifices made by the the armed personnel for the country.
It is our responsibility to stand by them, their families and dependants by donating generously on the Flag Day. This money would be used by the government for the welfare of the armed forces personnel.
This year, Prakasam district public stood in 1st place in the State by donating Rs 8.30 lakh for Flag Day. Deputy Chief Minister N China Rajappa felicitated District Collector Sujatha Sharma and army welfare officer M Rajani Kumari for collecting more money for the fund.”
The STEP CEO B Ravi, lieutenant colonel Krishavali, NCC unit lieutenant colonel Sk Abdul Raheem and other officers and NCC cadets participated in the programme.
