Vijayawada: APCC president N Raghuveera Reddy lashed out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday saying that people belonging to 23 sectors were badly affected in the country due to demonetisation.
He said the decision was against the law.
The PCC chief alleged that the Union government failed to take proper measures to tackle the problems being faced by the crores of people due to the impact of demonetisation.
He addressed a debate on ‘Modi Notu Potu, Babu Digital Key Votu and Saamaanyudiki Gundey Potu -- Maatladukundaam Randi‘conducted by the Congress party at the State party office here on Monday.
He said that the Congress would conduct people’s movement on demonetisation in AP and the National party leadership would question the BJP government on people blues regarding demonetisation in Parliament.
Raghuveera Reddy demanded that a probe should be conducted into the demonetisation with a sitting Supreme Court Judge.
He also demanded that the Union government resolve the small denomination crunch being faced by crores of people in the country.
Dr Ramakrishna, one of the participants in the debate, said that November 8 was a black day in the history of India and the decision taken by the Centre on demonetistion reflected the policies of a Tuglak rule.
Journalist Association of Andhra Pradesh (JAAP) member P Raju said that nearly 90 per cent ATMs were not working in the AP capital due to lack of sufficient money in the banks.
“People faced many problems with demonetisation than the cyclones in the country,” he added.
Advocate Ramesh Chandra said that about 110 people and 13 bank employees died at the banks due to demonetisation.
Union government must take the responsibility for the deaths of people at the banks he said.
He said the BJP leaders were celebrating the marriages of their daughters and sons in a grand manner but common people were compelled to postpone the marriages due to demonetisation.
Pensioners’ association member Surya Narayana alleged that Modi government was supporting the black money holders and the Prime Minister had thrown the public on roads with a wrong decision.
He said the ACB and Enforcement departments failed to take action on black money holders while the BJP leaders were celebrating the marriages of their daughters and sons lavishly.
