Eluru: Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) Director-General RP Thakur said that soon all the ACB offices would be digitalized in the State.
Eluru: Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) Director-General RP Thakur said that soon all the ACB offices would be digitalized in the State.
Addressing reporters at ACB office here on Wednesday, the ACB DG Thakur said that as part of digitalisation, the ACB has introduced a State-wide special WhatsApp number and asked the people to report cases of corruption to the notice of newly given number.
He said that the ACB would secretly gather information of government employees and officers in the state who have amassed assets beyond the known sources of income.
Already ACB has prepared a list of persons in this regard, revealed R P Thakur. The DG said that he came to Eluru to check the status of pending cases recorded during 2015 and 2016 in the district.
The ACB Director-General was categorical in saying that the department would work with all seriousness to make the government offices corruption-free places.
Raids would be conducted on corrupt employees, he informed. Due to paucity of staff, the ACB faced problems in 13 districts, he said.
“Very soon the ACP will appoint the necessary personnel and with availability of full-fledged staff, the department will intensify raids on corrupt officers and employees.” added.
Earlier, the ACB Director-General RP Thakur inspected the progress of construction of ACB’s new office that is going to come up at Xavier Nagar.
Foundation for the new building taken up at a cost of Rs.80 lakhs was laid last year. During the period of inspection, he questioned officials for the delay in construction and directed the contractor to speed up works.
Presently, the ACB office is running its operations at R & B office. The DG also reviewed the progress of ACB cases recorded during 2015-2016.
ACB Additional DG Abraham Lincoln, Joint Director Mohan Rao, DSP V Gopalakrishna, CI UJ Wilson, Traffic DSP A Srinivasa Rao, City Circle Inspector Rajasekhar, III-Town SI M Sagarababu and others also accompanied the DG during his visit to the site.
