Tirupati: The opposition parties including YSRCP, Congress, CPI and CPM on Monday jointly held a protest against the Sub-Collector for ignoring the weaker sections, who came to represent him on their problems.The leaders, who addressed the protest, gathering at RDO office made a scathing attack on Tirupati Sub-Collector and dubbed him as anti-poor and anti-Dalit.

CPM and CPI district secretaries K Kumar Reddy and Rama Naidu respectively slammed Sub-Collector Nishant Kumar for slighting the Dalits and other poor, who came to RDO office few days back to submit their memorandum on land issue. “Sub-Collector is acting as the land bank manager and an agent of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and his son Minister Nara Lokesh and not protecting the interests of the poor and the members of oppressed classes.

They warned that Nishant Kumar will also face the same fate of his predecessor Himanshu Shukla, who was transferred for disregarding weaker sections, if he did not change his attitude towards the poor. Vyavasaya Karmika Sangham district secretary P Venkatratnam and YSRCP leader MVS Mani alleged that the Sub-Collector openly exhibited his intolerance when a group of Dalits and other poorer sections including women, who were peacefully protesting before the RDO office, tried to explain their problem.

They also accused the Sub-Collector of forcibly trying to take away the agriculture lands of the poor in Srikalahasti area for giving them to bigwigs.Mahila Congress district president Sridevi also narrated her bitter experience of Sub-Collector not responding to the petitions from the poor for ration cards and also on supply of essentials in fair price shops which was disrupted due to non-functioning of ePoS set up in all ration shops for cashless transactions in Public Distribution System (PDS).

CPI city secretary C Penchalaiah, CITU city secretary Chandrasekhar Reddy and a host of leaders of the opposition parties in the city participated.
