Police recover jellyfish

A truck and a van were seized on charges of illegal transportation of jellyfish, by police at Uppada centre on Wednesday. Acting on a tip off, Kothapalli police waylaid at Uppada junction and searched the vehicles. They found jellyfish stored in tins in the vehicles. The fish were handed over to Kakinada fisheries department.
Kothapalli (East Godavari): A truck and a van were seized on charges of illegal transportation of jellyfish, by police at Uppada centre on Wednesday. Acting on a tip off, Kothapalli police waylaid at Uppada junction and searched the vehicles. They found jellyfish stored in tins in the vehicles. The fish were handed over to Kakinada fisheries department. A case was registered. It may be recalled the government had prohibited fishing jellyfish to prevent the extinction of the species.
