Scrutiny of applications raises eyebrows
Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh (SAAP) coaches\' recruitment process is once again facing several allegations.Beginning from inviting applications, accusations are coming from eligible persons. They charge some of the officers with making changes in number of posts and games.
Vijayawada: Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh (SAAP) coaches' recruitment process is once again facing several allegations.Beginning from inviting applications, accusations are coming from eligible persons. They charge some of the officers with making changes in number of posts and games.
The interviews have been completed and two of SAAP’s higher officials played key role in the entire process though the SAAP-appointed selection committee members conducted the interviews. The three-day interviews organised by SAAP concluded on Thursday. The SAAP should announce selected coaches' names and the list should be displayed at its office.

A three-men selection committee comprising Dronacharya awardees A Ramana Rao, Rami Reddy, Venkateswara Rao and SAAP officer Durga Prasad, who is convener of the committee conducted the interviews.
Interestingly, on Friday, Durga Prasad and two of the selection committee members Rami Reddy and Venkateswara Rao scrutinised the applications of the interviewed persons secretly. They parked their vehicles at SAAP office and went to a hotel for scrutinising the applications. As per rules and regulations, this process should be held at the SAAP office. “But, these officers scrutinised applications at a hotel and they kept the records outside of SAAP office,” pointed out a candidate who attended the interview for the post of a coach.
On coming to know about the development, media persons went to the hotel and sought to know from SAAP officer and selection committee convener Durga Prasad the reason for the scrutiny being conducted at the hotel. He claimed that there was no privacy at SAAP office to scrutinise the applications and hence they opted hotel for a peaceful and smooth conduct of the process. Surprisingly, SAAP VC &MD N Bangara Raju and selection committee member A Ramana Rao were not present at the hotel when the process of scrutiny was in progress.
When contacted, SAAP office for clarification, the media was told that Bangara Raju went to Hyderabad and Ramana Rao also went out of station. Durga Prasad said that a large number of persons attended the interviews and their applications should be scrutinised carefully for selection. About 335 coaches would be recruited in all the 13 districts, he added.Interestingly, as per primary web notification, 65 coach posts have been filled through interview. But, Durga Prasad told the media that 335 coach posts would be filled.
