Vijayawada: Hanuman Jayanti was celebrated with religious fervour in the city on Sunday. Hanuman temples were reverberated with ‘Jai Sri Ram’ and ‘Jai Hanuman’ slogans as many temples organised special programmes.
Despite scorching heat, many temples witnessed heavy rush and visitors dressed in traditional attire thronged them. Many temple committees provided drinking water, butter milk and arranged tents for the convenience of devotees in view of the scorching heat.

Lord Hanuman temples teemed with visitors and long queues were seen in different areas of the city. Machavaram Sri Dasanjaneya temple, Benz Circle Anjaneya Swamy temple, Sri Bhramaramba Malleswara Swamyvarla Devasthanam, Uttaradi Mutt on Canal Road and Anjaneya Swamy temple on Indrakeeladri witnessed huge crowds. Hanuman Jayanti was organised by Hanumath Deekshma Petha at Anjaneya Swamy temple near Milk Project in the city. The devotees performed aku pooja (betal leaves) and offered vada mala to the deity.
