Chairmanship of Durga Temple Board a bone of contention

The leadership of BJP is very keen to get some important posts like chairman of Durga Temple Trust Board and chairman posts for various corporations. BJP has already recommended names for various positions.According to sources, the state government has plans to complete final phase of nominated posts by June. Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and party general secretary Nara Lokesh has already started the exercise some days ago.

Senior leaders Nandamuri Hari Krishna, MP Maganti Murali Mohan and former minister K Ramasubba Reddy are also in the list for the post of TTD chairman and RTC chairman posts. The TDP leadership had offered TTD chairman post to Hari Krishna but he is yet to reveal his acceptance. Names of some other MPs like Murali Mohan and Rayapati Sambasiva Rao are doing rounds in political circles for the TTD post.

Likewise, several local leaders are in race for Sri Durga Malleswara Swami temple chairman post but BJP is keen to get the post for its party leader V Ranga Prasad. Though the government has announced Yalamanchali Gouranga Babu’s name for the post but has not released official order on this front so far. The pressure from BJP top leadership was the reason behind not releasing the GO in favour of Gouranga Babu, sources say.

Several corporation chairman posts are also vacant and the local BJP leaders are in race along with rank and file of Telugu Desam. Already some leaders have submitted their requisitions to union minister M Venkaiah Naidu and BJP national president Amit Shah also.

The leaders of BJP questioned its state leadership on nominated posts while they are extending support for sharing a sizeable number of posts with Telugu Desam. One senior Telugu Desam leader said the party leadership is ready to give some posts to BJP leaders but they are demanding chairman posts for various corporations.
